Where in the world are #teamSPEAR?
As experienced Chartered Physiotherapists, #teamSPEAR work in locations worldwide with sports teams and as part of a support team on various sport ventures worldwide. June was no exception and the team spent time in USA, Holland and supporting a cycle charity challenge in Aberdeen.
Ahead of the ALTIS facility opening in Aberdeen, Physiotherapists James and Karen flew to ALTIS world in Phoenix, Arizona for a week’s Performance Therapy Training. This hands-on training programme included a panel of experts in a classroom-learning environment and practical hands-on sessions with ALTIS athletes in the field.

#teamSPEAR’s Aberdeen-based Physiotherapist Lisa was on hand to support the team of five cyclists who were aiming to “beat the sun”, raising money for the Gathimba Edwards Foundation by cycling the width of Scotland from sunrise to sunset. The money raised made it possible to send a football-team number of children to school for a year.
Our Physiotherapist, Ashley spent the weekend in Holland with Incitus on “The Science of Cycling” course. This two-day Physiotherapy bike fit course focused on assessment of the body and the bike, alongside the associated rehabilitation strategies and performance optimisation methods.
SPEAR Physiotherapists, alongside our partners Aberdeen Sports Massage, were also part of the support team for the recent inaugural Westhill 10k race. With over 500 runners signed up, including SPEAR Physiotherapist David who ran for the charity SensationALL, the first-time-race was a major success!
