Women’s Health Physiotherapy and Sport

Female pelvic health physiotherapy is a specialist area of physiotherapy that focuses on supporting women of all ages with problems predominantly related to their pelvic floor, the pelvis, abdomen/core, and breast related changes. Our Women’s health trained Physiotherapists treat women of all ages – prenatal, post-natal, perimenopausal and post-menopausal. Your needs differ greatly at differing times in your life.

We see a wide range of conditions with an emphasis on supporting women to better understand their bodies. Our team provides a safe, professional and welcoming environment where we listen, you can ask questions, and receive evidence based, high quality treatment and education. We are passionate about ensuring your needs are met and empowering you to manage your pelvic health.

During childbearing years pelvic and back pain can be particularly problematic as our body’s adapt and change to carrying children and childbirth. During Pregnancy and following childbirth urinary incontinence can be a problem and occasionally women can experience prolapses.

Returning to sport after having a baby or adapting your training through the perimenopause and menopause are particularly difficult times for a woman. We can work with you to try and ensure you look after your body and can help you alleviate any aches and pains along the way. Strengthening any weak areas and loading your body appropriately are key. Strengthening and taking you and your hormones into close consideration are very important. In later life your tendons can become troublesome where previously they have behaved when exercising. We can create a plan with you to get you back on track.
